2025 Fall Festival

This year's Fall Festival will be October 11th, at 5 PM at the Portage Park. There will be a chili cook off, cornbread cook off, trunk or treat decorating contest, pie eating contests, kids games, trunk or treat, and a showing of Harry potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in the park with popcorn. A Twisted Sugar food truck will be there from 5PM to 7PM!
We will be hiring for eight positions this year. We will need seven people to run the games from 5:45-6 PM. We will be paying $10 per person. We also need someone that will run the chili and cornbread from 4:30-6 PM and that will pay $25. If you are interested in entering the chili or cornbread cook offs please follow the links below. There are NO entry fees required this year. This year will have 3 impartial judges from out of town. We will also have a People Choice Award that will be voted on by everyone in attendance. 1st place gets $100 cash, 2nd place gets $50 cash, 3rd place gets $25 cash and the People's Choice winner will get a, "Portage Chili/Cornbread Cook Off People's Choice Winner" apron. The 1st place winner will also have their names engraved on a plaque displayed in the Town Hall. Sign ups are required by Thursday, October 9th at 5PM. Please have chili and cornbread entries at the bowery by 4:45 PM on Saturday, October 11th.
Entry is free for the trunk or treat decorating contest. 1st place will get $100 cash, 2nd place will get $50 cash and 3rd place will get $25 cash. The first place winner will also get their name engraved on a plaque that will be displayed in the Town Hall. Please provide your own candy. Please have your vehicle parked on the gravel road, just east of the firestation, and your trunk set up in your labeled spot by 5:30 PM. Judging starts at 5:45. Sign up below so a spot can be reserved for your vehicle. Sign ups required by Thursday, October 9th at 5PM.
The pie eating contests will be in 3 age groups. The adult pie eating contest is for anyone 17 and older, then there are ages 11-16 and 10 and under. Entry is free for the pie eating contest and a prize is given for the first place winner. Sign ups required by Thursday, October 9th at 5PM. Spots are limited.
Neighbor of the year is to celebrate and recognize a community member or couple that has made a positive impact on the community. Please text Mariah Huggins at 435-230-8349 or email mhuggins@portagetown.com to nominate community members and then all nominees will be voted on by the community.
